Examples of when reflexology could be used in the work place

  • Project deadlines - when employees are under additional pressure e.g. working very long hours and need a boost
  • Social club benefit- regular mini sessions to improve energy and morale
  • Transition & change - when the business is going through major restructuring or change, reflexology can help people to maintain focus and to keep a lid on stress

'I have recently tried for the first time reflexology with Jo Bareham and have found much benefit from it especially with the condition that I am currently suffering of plantar fascia.  I certainly felt relief due to the manipulation of the feet for a few days after and will continue to have the treatment going forward as the feeling that I got in the feet after was most beneficial and have found the whole therapy session to be very relaxing and has helped me with working in a stressful environment'.  Jacquie -EDF Energy

 What is reflexology?

Reflexology is an energy based therapy that dates back to ancient Egypt, China and India. The treatment aims to help restore health and maintain the body's natural equilibrium by gently manipulating reflex points on the feet that connect to the body. There are over 7,000 nerve endings on the feet in addition to the many reflex points.
Here is a useful link to show how the feet relate the body:   "http://www.dorlingkindersleyuk.co.uk/static/cs/uk/11/features/reflexology/footchart.html"

 How does reflexology work?

  • Gentle manipulation of the feet stimulate nerves endings
  • Increased circulation and lymph helps improve detoxification
  • The treatment can be either relaxing or energising helping to reduce stress and tension
  • During the treatment individuals often like to share stresses and issues, which help to reduce emotional tension as well as receiving reflexology

Reflexology can also be helpful for:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Asthma, sinusitis
  • Water retention
  • Pregnancy symptoms (after 12 wks)
  • Insomnia
  • Backache
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Low immunity
  • Improving circulation

The treatment is neither painful nor ticklish although sometimes certain areas may feel a little tender. This often relates to an imbalance within the corresponding area of the body. Reflexology does not claim to diagnose or cure.

Only shoes and socks / tights will need to be removed during the treatment.
